Marketing emails have to be opted into. Transactional emails do not.
Marketing emails aren’t always triggered by an action within the platform. Transactional emails typically are.
Examples of transactional emails:
Purchase receipts
Shipping confirmations
Email verifications
Account updates
Password resets
Important: Customers should always be able to unsubscribe from marketing emails. It’s the law! But you don’t need explicit permission to email your customers for transactional emails, as they would miss out on important account updates, purchase confirmations, and other notifications. IMPORTANT: Never include marketing messages in transactional emails.
How to target fans for a transactional email
Select an audience to receive your email.
Click the checkbox “Include fans who opted out of marketing emails”
Click Done
Complete email settings and send email
