Use this article to determine whether your mobile app needs a season transition before a new season appears for fans.
Depending on where your events come from, your mobile app may or may not need a season transition. Some event feeds roll over to the new season automatically. Others require FanThreeSixty Support to switch your app to the new season. This page explains what a season transition is, when it is needed, and what to do next.
What a season transition does
A season transition updates your mobile app so it displays the upcoming season instead of the one that just ended.
- Schedule: Upcoming season events appear in the app, and past season events no longer appear in the upcoming schedule.
- Standings and records: Team records and standings reset for the new season.
- Stats and rosters: If shown in your app, season stats and rosters move to the new season.
If a transition is required, it is handled on the FanThreeSixty side. You cannot perform it yourself in App Manager.
Why season transitions matter
- Fans see the correct events. Without a required transition, the app may continue showing last season’s schedule or may not display newly published events.
- Season data stays accurate. Records, standings, and stats align with the correct season.
- Related features work as expected. Event check-ins, push notifications, and ticket mapping rely on the correct season’s events being available in the app.
When a transition is required
Whether you need a season transition depends on how your events are supplied to the app.
| Scenario | What it means | What you should do |
|---|---|---|
| Feed updates automatically | Some feeds are ongoing and are not tied to a single season. New events appear as they are added to the feed. | No season transition is needed. |
| Feed is tied to a season | Some feeds from athletics websites or stats providers are configured for a specific season. | Wait until the new season schedule is published in the feed, then contact FanThreeSixty Support to request a season transition. |
| No event feed | Events are managed manually rather than coming from a connected feed. | Contact FanThreeSixty Support when you are ready to move to the new season. |
How the process works
- Your event source publishes the new season schedule, if your app uses a season-based feed.
- You contact FanThreeSixty Support and request a season transition.
- Support updates your app to use the new season.
- After the transition, new events continue updating from the feed as usual.
If your feed requires a transition, FanThreeSixty cannot complete it until the new season events are available in the source feed.
Timing considerations
Season timing varies by sport and by provider. If your o
