What are the different communication types?
Engage with your fans on the mobile app using Communication cards. There are three different types of communication cards:
Info Cards
Info cards are the most versatile type of communication you can send via the mobile app. Info cards can be used to send exclusive content, noteworthy news, offers, and more.
Question Cards
With a question card, you can send out trivia, polls and surveys to your fans. All questions are multiple choice with up to four answers, with a different fan experience depending on the question type.
Banner Cards
Banners are visual images you can send to fans to promote a sponsor, your brand, an event, or anything that is solely visual. You can send banner cards to the Mobile App or to Gateway and you can track engagement metrics for each card.
What audiences can I send a communication to?
How you communicate with your fanbase will vary based on the type of information you want to send. Sometimes you want everyone in the app to receive a message, while other times you may want a specific segment of your fanbase to receive the communication.
All Mobile Users
This is your entire mobile app fanbase. Anyone who has registered within the app will receive the communication you send.
If a communication is sent to All Mobile Users, it will usually reach the fan within a few seconds.
Targeted Audience
This is a segment of your fanbase that you create through the Audience builder. Common audiences include: in-venue, out-of-venue, season ticket members, new app users, etc. Utilizing a targeted audience will only send to the specific fans within that audience.
If a communication is sent to a Targeted Audience, it can take up to 15 minutes for the communication to be sent depending on the size and attributes of the audience.
What is a push notification?
A push notification is a message that appears on a fan’s phone to alert them about new content in the mobile app. Push notifications can also be used to provide live scores and event updates.
What is a geofence?
A geofence is a virtual perimeter for a real-world geographic area. Geofences are set as a radius from a specific latitude and longitude.
Geofences are typically used to determine if a fan has attended an event.
Note: Fans must have opted in to have their location tracked for the mobile app to know if they have crossed into a geofenced area.
How long should my content be active?
The longer the better. Depending on the type of mobile app, it may be appropriate to expire certain content at the end of the season, but we recommend you keep content active as long as possible.
Engagement with the app is dependent on the types and amount of content available in the app. New fans who just signed up should be able to see as much content as possible to encourage them to use the app regularly.
Do info cards support video?
Yes! There are three ways to link a video in an info card.
Include a video on the card itself. See Add Video to an Info Card
Link to the video on the internet as you would any other link. Select Web Link as your Message Link and enter the url of the video.
If you have an integrated video feed (such as Youtube), you can link directly to that video natively within the app. Select App Content as your Message Link when building the Communication, and your most recent videos will show in the list. Select the video you want to link to.
